Youth Ministry in schools…

We’ve had a year now of the CSYMI project in Slough at St Joseph’s School. Here’s what we’ve learnt so far…

We started off focussing on the year 9s engaging them in Phase One of CSYMI modules looking at retreat and growing in their faith.

They engaged well and seemed to have some really deep experiences on retreat. To take it to the next level, the sense is that we need more of the older years engaged to help build peer-to-peer ministry.

So what’s next?

Moving into Phase Two, we’re shifting the focus to the older years. To start to grow students from year 10 and above and look at their own personal faith, but also how they can engage with the people around them. Integrating these themes into the RE curriculum. This phase includes the following modules:

  • Module 1: Witness
  • Module 2: Ministry
  • Module 3: Becoming Disciples
  • Module 4: Spirit

As the NYMO team, we’re going to be helping to deliver modules 1 and 2 and encouraging them to engage in the Mission Northampton mission events happening in Burnham in November.

Through CSYMI students have an exciting opportunity to progress in leadership of peers and leadership of school spiritual activities...CSYMI
