Come be a disciple!
In the Northampton Diocese we are committed to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
The Ascent is a three year discipleship process for Catholic young people in years 10-12 who want to embrace their faith in Jesus Christ at a whole new level and learn how to share it with others. At our heart we seek to disciple the few for the sake of the many so that the Gospel may reach the ends of the earth.
The Ascent is a one-of-a-kind process of discipleship run by volunteers across the UK. It partners with organisations like NYMO to bring young people together to learn about their faith and grow in relationship with Jesus.
There are three primary components to the process:
- 3 residential weekends per year providing opportunities for teaching and formation in the Catholic faith, encounter with Jesus Christ, personal prayer, and envisioning their next steps.
- Weekly ‘PoDs’ (Pockets of Disciples) which are small groups who meet together online for a consistent experience of fellowship and formation.
- Monthly 1:1 mentoring giving a space for bespoke discipleship facilitated by a trained team member to meet the individual needs of each young person.
Some of themes covered in process include: Catholic Social Teaching, Scripture, Sacraments, Theology of the Body, Charisms, and Apologetics. you will also receive training in leadership, communication, and reflective skills.
