Young People Lead us to Christ
To celebrate young people in our Church, the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales offer a day where our youth can (almost) take centre stage!
Why ‘almost’? Well for years I have battled with the idea of National Youth Sunday being on the Feast of Christ The King. Why should our precious young people share their day with a Feast as big as this?!
However, now I have learned how fitting it is that young people should point us all in the direction of Christ The King. We should always place Jesus first.
This is brought home to me every year at events like Summer Camp, where our teenagers will kneel in reverence before our Lord present in the Blessed Sacrament. I remember one young lad telling me after returning to Adoration, having left for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, that now he knew he could sit with Jesus totally, in His likeness.
So on National Youth Sunday this year (Sunday 24th November) let’s allow and encourage our young people to lead us closer to Our Lord and know that He is Christ The King.
