We have all had that moment… we are on an endless scroll, keeping up with our snaps and we wonder what it would be like to have THAT life instead… the life that looks perfect. Where there are lots of smiles, the fun is endless, and everything looks effortless….
We then look at our lives and think, “is this it?”.
Sometimes we might be tempted to think that because we aren’t perfect, that our lives aren’t perfect, that we are somehow not worth much.
Sometimes we might think that God isn’t interested in us because surely, He is only interested in the perfect people… they are the ones that deserve God…
Have you ever thought that faith, Church, or God isn’t for you because of mistakes that you have made or are making? That’s it’s not for you because you aren’t perfect, that you aren’t flawless….
St Paul, the guy that wrote loads of the New Testament felt the same sometimes and in prayer he felt God say to him,
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthian’s 2:19
God invites us to come to him with all our weaknesses, our imperfections… In fact, Jesus tells us this explicitly – “Jesus, overhearing, shot back, “Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? I’m here inviting the sin-sick, not the spiritually-fit.” Mark 2:17 (The Message)
So, this Lux weekend we will be exploring this invitation from Jesus. We will come with all the things we struggle with, the things we don’t know, the things we are getting wrong… because when we bring those things to Jesus, when we let him know exactly where we are at, his power, his forgiveness, his grace makes us flawless…
Maybe you want to know what it is to be spiritually-fit. Maybe you want to hear about the faith of heroes and saints that felt sin-sick at some point but went on to have their lives talked about even now… That even though they weren’t always flawless God had big plans for them… God has big plans for you too. He is calling us to be perfect but is meeting us in the mess and walking this path of faith with us.
So, what are you waiting for! We can’t wait to see you!
