In this way they are to live in love, be fruitful, and thus become a sign of God himself, who is
nothing but overflowing love
[YouCat #260]

Discerning marriage is as important as discerning any other vocation. Fr Christopher Jamison has pointed out that nowadays the call to marriage is seen as unusual as a call to any other vocation.

The sacrament of Marriage consists of a life long promise made by a man and a woman before God and the Church, which is accepted and confirmed by God and consummated by the bodily union of the couple. The most profound thing about a Christian marriage is the couple's knowledge that they "are a living image of the love between Christ and the Church"  [YouCat #261].
