The Great YOUCAT Giveaway!

NYMO are pleased to offer parishes in the Diocese of Northampton the opportunity to receive YOUCATs FREE of charge for use in the parish.

In 2011, the church responded to a need for young people to engage with the teachings of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Under the direction of Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, theologians, educators and priests worked with over sixty young people to present the teachings of the Catechism in an accessible, question and answer format, with illustrative pictures. This publication is the YOUCAT: the Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church. It is an amazing resource and our experience is that all those who take time to read even one question want to keep reading.

We have 1000 YOUCats to offer to parishes that run teenage formation. If you don't currently have a teenage programme, there's a number of ways you can get started with the YOUCAT.

Some parishes have said that they will use their YOUCATs with their altar-servers. The servers come 10 minutes earlier than usual and each week, they dip in to their catechisms and learn something new. Others have said they want to start a discussion group where young people come together to learn from each other and their catechisms. This can be quite informal, a pizza evening with some discussion topics. Or why not follow a more structured programme? The NYMO team have put together an 8 session program called ‘Trek’ that works through the YOUCAT with games, activities, discussion questions and prayers. Could young people in your parish form a study group and meet once a month to do some activities, socialize and learn about their faith? Click here to find out more.

If you would like the NYMO team to help train volunteers to run teenage formation programmes please get in touch.

We are passionate about sharing our faith with young people and this book is the BEST tool we have found to help with this.

For more information on how to get your hands on the YOUCats, please download the application form here.

N.B. Unfortunately individuals cannot apply by themselves. Parishes must apply on their behalf.

We look forward to hearing from you!
