Summer Camp 2017

Summer Camp dates for your diaries! Don't miss out on this incredible week.

Reflecting on my summer: a parish leader’s perspective

Well it’s been a busy summer here at the NYMO office. We’ve now just about recovered from a great pilgrimage to Lourdes , but just before that, we had an absolutely amazing time at Alton Castle with our friends from LifeTeen: a Youth Ministry movement from the States, that (amongst other things!) run Summer Camps. We caught up with Emily, a parish leader from Luton, to see what she made of the Summer Camp experience.

lux.home - residential weekend Winter 2014

Lux.home saw young people of secondary school age from across the diocese come together for a weekend of fun, games, roller disco and reconciliation, to reflect on the Church’s teachings on heaven, hell and purgatory.

Over the first weekend of February over 100 young people and youth leaders gathered in Northampton for the latest ‘Lux’ weekend. Focussed on the theme of ‘Maiden’, they took a closer look at Mary, the mother of God.

lux.maiden - What do Catholics believe about Mary?

At this lux.weekend we looked at what the Catholic Church teaches about Mary. See some of the input below.

lux.maiden - Question Panel

At the lux.maiden residential weekend, there was an opportunity to ask questions about Mary to an expert panel. It was formed of Fr Simon Penhalagan from Burnham, Deacon Michael Fleming from Northampton, lux.participant Ashley from Dunstable and Speaker Anna Cowell from Leeds. Here are some of the questions that were asked and some of the answers given.

Journey of Faith - Matt van Duyvenbode

Matt vanDuyvenbode from the Bible Society came to lux.leap and spoke to us about what the journey of faith involves and requires of us. He referred to the things we need to be suitably prepared (including a showercap...), informed us about some figures from the Old Testament who demonstrated faith and the thin red line that links them with us. Click here to see the video part one and part two. Thanks Matt!
